At the end of August 2021 Maura and I (David) began thinking about our home of the future, one that would meet all our requirements, and maybe our hopes and dreams.
We began looking at undeveloped land because that offered our best chance for creating the perfect home.
The first we found seemed perfect. It checked all the boxes on our list -- but someone bid first.
After that we looked in Thurston and Pierce counties in Washington, finally deciding on a 5-acre parcel near Graham and the Kapowsin airstrip. It doesn't mater that 60 percent of the land is wetland, wetland buffer or building setback. We saw more than an acre of buildable And it didn't hurt that there was a peek-a-boo view of Mt. Rainier.
A plus is that the property is designated winter wildlife habitat, complete with a migrating herd of Rocky Mountain elk, a part of the Rainier group, and who knows what other wildlife.
This site shows how we first saw the land and then how we made it into our perfect home.
